Tebow Laws

For those of you who do not know who Tim Tebow is, he is the Heisman winning quarterback of the Florida Gators. In addition, he was home schooled, but was allowed to play football for Nease High School. Tebow laws are efforts to try and allow home schoolers to play sports in there local public schools.

Tebow laws are controversial on both the home school and public school side. Many home schoolers don’t want to be under any regulation from the public school buearacracy, while the public schools claim they can’t verify eligibility and do’t want to give up spots on the team to home schoolers.

Illinois does not allow home schoolers to play in the public schools. I reported a local story about this in Antioch.

In some states home schoolers have formed their own teams. Some of these players are the best in the country in their sports.

I come down on the side of the Tebow Laws. Home schoolers pay the same taxes as everyone else. Because of this, they should have the right to play sports and have access to whatever services they need just like public school students.
