Teachers Unions Keep School Board Silent
Teachers Unions do this across the State if Illinois and the country. They intimidate school boards into being silent about contract details until after they are approved. This is a travesty that should be stopped, but I fear that this will never happen until enough school board members who understand the following:
- They represent the taxpayers not the teachers union or district administration
- The teacher unions have all the support and leverage during negotiations if the school board remains silent because they do the following:
- Inform union members (Teachers) of their progress
- Inform union officials of their progress
- Inform union members of other school districts if they need vocal support
- Use the local newspapers to their advantage
- Wil use the PTO/PTA to garner support if necessary
- The school board cannot garner support from the public if they remain silent
- The object of the teachers unions is to isolate them from the public
If enough school board members, or at least one on every school board started speaking out they could garner support from the taxpayers easily. Taxpayers understand that many teachers are overpaid and receive raises and benefits that far exceed those of the general public. Visit the Champion News to look at teacher salaries.
