GRAYSLAKE — On a day that saw schools from Chicago to Michigan affected by threats of violence, officials at Grayslake Middle School dismissed students early on Monday and contacted police after “threatening graffiti” was found in the building. According to a statement from Grayslake Elementary School District Superintendent Ellen Correll, a “threatening graffiti message was discovered in a student restroom” about 10 minutes before the scheduled dismissal at the school, 440 N. Barron Blvd. “The threat indicated that there could be possible damage to the building and facilities,” Correll said in the statement. “In our vigilant efforts for student and staff safety, the building was dismissed early (and) the Grayslake Police Department and district officials were immediately informed.” Correll said “the building and grounds were swept” by police and district staff, and plans were to open for class as scheduled today |
Let’s hope the police find the culprit soon and that this was just a practical joke.
