Dumbing Down Tennessee

Over and over again, we talk about how to educate the children of this nation. We we want standards teacher, unions, administrators and their paid legislators dumb down the test, norm the scores or just flat out lower standards. Tennessee legislators are this time trying to lower standards so the poor overworked children (very sarcastically) can keep their scholarship money. (Hat tip: JayPeriod of the The Tennessee ConserVOLiance).

The Tennessee legislature is actively working to reduce the grade point average, GPA, needed for lottery scholarship students to keep their free money. Currently, the required GPA is 3.0. That’s a middle B. To get a 3.0, someone needs to show initiative and desire. A little hard work and study, and that GPA is attainable.

Go read JayPeriod’s response to this idiocy and ask yourself this question, are the students really at fault or is the government and education establishment trying to make themselves look better in the eyes of parents?
