Antioch District 117 won’t take no for an answer. They made an offer on land adjacent to a parcel of land they already own. The owners of that land rejected their offer and accepted another.

Attorneys have filed a condemnation suit in Lake County circuit court against an Antioch homeowner who reportedly refused to sell 30 acres to the district, despite the property being for sale. “We don’t want to go to court. We just want to buy the property,†Sabatino said. “The land was for sale; it isn’t up to the buyer who buys it.†|
Why can’t a property owner can’t decide who buys their land, Mr. Sabatino? They own the property and I’m guessing they chose the highest offer. This appears to be just another case of a government entity being arrogant and wanting their way no matter what a member of the public might want.

“We bid what we felt was a fair price for the property and because they didn’t want to sell to a school, the owner got into a situation where they were entertaining another offer,†Sabatino said. |
I have sent the following questions to Mr. Sabatino. I will update this post when I receive the answers:
- What was the offer the school district made to purchase the land?
- When was that offer made?
- What is the offer amount accepted by the land owner?
- When is the court date scheduled for this hearing?
