Antioch District 34 Survey

Antioch Elementary School District 34 is conducting a survey of its residents. The survey runs through November 26th.

ANTIOCH — Antioch School District 34 residents will receive a letter this month inviting them to participate in an on-line survey on how to deal with the district’s overcrowded schools.

The survey will take less than 10 minutes to complete and the data will be used to create a plan for the future of the elementary school district, said Superintendent Scott Thompson.

Each letter will have a key code to allow participants to access the survey questions. The survey will ask for input into future facilities needs for the children in the district. Residents who do not have access to computers are encouraged to go to the public library or request a paper copy of the survey, said Thompson. The survey ends Nov. 26.

Results of the survey will be presented at the Dec. 19 school board meeting at Antioch Elementary School. Administration and the board will discuss developing a plan to present to the community, possibly as a referendum question in April.

School Perceptions, LLC, is conducting the survey. The firm has conducted similar surveys nationwide.

I wondered when I saw this story if the letters went to the entire district or just the parents who had children in District 34 schools. I spoke to a resident of the school district today asking abou tthe survey. They did not receive the letter because their child is in high school. Of course, I gave them this information so they could take the survey.

If you live in Antioch District 34 I would encourage you to take the survey. If not, the results are going to be skewed to produce the results the school district wants. With those results, they will return a referendum to the ballot claiming community support.

If anyone has any information regarding School Perceptions, LLC please share it with me. It would be interesting to know what other school districts they have done surveys for.
