Rollins Road Development?

The Lake County Board holds one of the keys to whether more housing will be built along Rollins Road. Without their approval, the projects will be scaled back or just die. This affects the Grayslake Elementary and High Schools since this would be the schools the children would atttend.

Plans for more than 150 houses in northern Grayslake are in limbo as county officials hold power to grant sewer services to two projects.

That’s the same situation with the Autumn Ridge subdivision, a plot of 25 houses approved by the village in March.

So far, county officials have been reluctant to extend sewer rights for the projects, effectively thwarting plans to build houses there.

District 46 Superintendent Ellen Correll says she just wants a definitive answer, so the staff can plan for the possible influx of children.

A discussion on the affects to the school district facilities was held at the 06/12/2006 and 7/10/2006 school board meetings. The numbers have been scaled back from what was reported in those discussions.

  1. What about impact fees? transition fees?

  2. What about them? The district usually claims they are never enough to pay for the students they receive. The district is aware of these subdivisions becuase they have been discussed in the meetings. They should also working with the village to negotiate those fees with the developer.
