Jersey Community Unit School District #100 built 2 new schools, a high school and grade school. This was done even after 71% of the voters rejected the referendum. The Coalition for Public Awareness is now moving forward with their lawsuit that questions the validity of the school districts’ actions.

On Wednesday, July 19th, the Honorable Judge Lois Bell granted Leave to the Coalition for Public Awareness allowing their suit to be filed. The suit will challenge the validity of the issuance of Health and Life Safety Bonds used to finance the local portion of a school construction project in Jersey Community Unit School District #100, in which the district built a new high school and grade school against the will of the voters. While this is only the first step of a long process, it was certainly viewed as a success by the majority of the community. Unfortunately, one elected official has lashed out in a tirade of personal attacks on the Coalition and its Chairman, Jeff Ferguson. |
School District across the state are manuevering to get what ever they want regardless of what the voters say at the ballot box. Jersey County schools are not alone how they operate. Just search here on my site on bonds, overtaxing, etc. and you’ll find numerous school districts here locally in Lake County practicing deceptive tactics against the taxpayers. Will you stand up against these tactics or just hide your head in the sand so you can’t hear or see anything?
