Computer Upgrade/Gifted Program

The Daily Herald is reiterating the news laid out in the last couple of school board meetings, here and here.

For about $120,000, the district will upgrade its database software and operating systems.

Business manager Dan Aggen says the upgrades will help the district deal with all kinds of student data, and the new operating systems should extend the life of computers.

A program won’t be in place next year, but the district will hire a specialist to begin working with staff to develop one, maybe the year after, Superintendent Ellen Correll said.

First, though, next year’s students will be tested, a first step to identifying gifted ones. The results also can be used to classify special needs in non-gifted children.
