Rockford School Board MySpace Scandal

There is a breaking story concerning the Rockford School Board President, Nancy Kalchbrenner. At the school board meeting this week WTVO.com reported that Rockford Schools are looking into doing something similar to what Libertyville/Vernon Hills has done in response to Blog posting. Excerpts below:

“This other district is doing it and we might want to pay close attention to how it goes for them,” says Rockford School Board President Nancy Kalchbrenner. “I know it`s controversial for them but I think its something we need to really be aware of.”

“I think a lot of kids would get in trouble because they talk about how they went drinking at this party or did all sorts of stuff at another party,” says Guilford High School Student Kelsey Williams.

And the proposed change in the suburban district`s code states that kind of “illegal or inappropriate” behavior could be monitored by the suburban district.

“We would probably be more concerned with things that effect their school day, if there`s bullying going on or references to threats,” says Kalchbrenner.

One parent, Nancy Carlson, believes monitoring should be done by parents.

I am trying to verify the rest of the story. It has been brought to my attention that students have been posting about underage age drinking at a party hosted by the School Board President. I have not confirmed this personally yet, but I have evidence that has been sent to me. I will update this later as I get more information.
