LTE: Balance the Budget Instead of Raising Taxes

The following letter to the editor was in the News-Sun today.

Have you gotten your tax bill? Of course you have.

How much money can we pour into the school system? Maybe it’s time to reorganize the school system and cut out the waste and misuse of funds.

Bottom line is we are all living on a fixed income and all they have to do when they want more money is to raise taxes. Maybe it is time to get people in there that can add and subtract (Or didn’t they learn that in our very expensive schools?) and balance the budget rather than continually keep raising taxes.

Starting in November, we have to start electing people that care about the American people.

I agree. We need to elect people at every level of government who will balance the budget and do so with restraint. Borrowing money from pensions like they do here in Illinois is not balancing the budget.

As far as schools go, the elections for school boards are not until next April. We need to start finding and recruiting people who are willing to stand up for the taxpayer and end the waste. It would certainly help if they can add and subtract.
