As I had already mentioned in my board notes, the life safety repair costs were considered low. The Daily Herald now has an article about this as well.

Grayslake Elementary District 46 architects say district buildings have been well maintained in the last 10 years, and that upkeep may have saved money. District 46 was reviewed this year, and will have to make about $1.3 million in repairs — far less than some districts that sometimes have to pay more than $10 million. “I think it’s going to be easy to take care of,†said Frederick Schuster, vice president of RuckPate Architecture, which handles District 46 buildings. And District 46 can pay some of the $1.3 million for the upgrades later. Most of the projects have to be done in the next five years. More urgent issues, such as fixing or moving fire alarms, have to be done in one year. |
