Extreme Wisdom is reporting that last week Big Ed has gotten the courts to rule that property taxes are an unconstituional way to fund Education.
You may think this cannot happen here in Illinois, but think again. It will soon be here. The discussion has already started. Tonight, a board member of Grayslake High School District 127 reported from a meeting that he went to. They discussed HB 750 and how they were going to try to make the house bill more general so it can pass. Also on how to appeal for major amounts and giving the districts all access to the full amount that the tax allows.

The Illinois State Supreme Court has twice refused to enforce the provision in the Illinois constitution which says that the state has the primary duty to fund education.
If it ever does, expect districts like Grayslake to see its taxpayers pay higher income taxes and, I’d guess, it would be lucky not to have to send property tax dollars to the state to be then sent to poorer school districts.
[...] What happens when taxpayers say enough is enough to school districts? Do you think school districts realize they have to make do with what they have? No, they go to court. They have now successfully done this in Texas where they got the court to rule property taxes were unconstitutional. They did the same in South Carolina, where they got another judge to rule state’s system of funding poor schools unconstitutional. [...]
