Superintendent Tenbusch of Winthrop Harbor District 1 sent this letter to parents in the District. I am providing excerpts below:
|
This support seemed to be forthcoming after the spring election, but the arrival of a well funded and organized opposition group from outside our community has changed everything. It no longer appears realistic to expect a “win” in another referendum attempt. |
This is laughable. First, the people in Winthrop Harbor had already said NO to a tax increase 3 times prior. Second, which opposition group is he referring that is well funded and organized? CRAFT is a husband and wife that fund themselves mostly, Vote No Tax is a person who has family interests in the District, Certain individuals who are afiliated with RALC were working on their own, and I am also self funded. We are not organized. We just all believed this referendum was an attempt to grab your hard earned money and the District had a spending problem instead of a funding problem. We are not organized or well funded.

The decision to engage in deficit spending is predicated on the belief that the costs of operating District 1 as a full-service school district, even with the utmost fiscal constraints, means that our annual expenses will unavoidably outstrip revenue. This unfortunate reality puts us squarely on the path towards a state takeover of District 1 schools. The first step in the process has already been taken by seeking the Illinois State Board of Education certification of being in a state of “financial distress.” All of the options that followafter a state intervention occurs will result in a local tax increase without voter consent. This will insure that a sufficient amount of new tax dollars are generated to support full service educational programs to Winthrop Harbor Children, but it will also mean the state will assume control over our schools. |
This is an insult to all voters. Tenbusch is telling the residents of Winthrop Harbor that he does not care what you say. He is going to spend as much money as he wants in an attempt to prove he was right all along. This is an outrage. He is not doing his job and should be fired. If the school board will not fire him, them you as residents should start the campaign now to replace each and every one of them who will not take action. You may want to explore a recall election to get this done faster.
You can bet, that the state have the district ask for another referendum in the spring. This letter is just another blackmail tactic to get more votes next spring. If Tenbusch is allowed to continue his spending spree he is forcing you to pay much more than neccessary even if the state does take over. You need to attend your board meetings and demand action immediately. Nothing will change until you change the people in charge.
The following is a comment from CRAFT:

“The closing section is the damning point of this letter. This administrator, in The letter attached is very important. It shows you at what length school boards go to It is time for the no voters in the district to become more vocal at the school board Fiscally responsible individuals across the State should consider running for the school |

Lennie,
A slight correction. This part was sent to us by a unnamed school board member and it was not “idenity protected” by the way. Sorry if that was not clear in our email. Another great post. Keep up the good work.
“The closing section is the damning point of this letter. This administrator, in
referencing ’state takeover,’ has abdicated his responsibility, and taken a deliberate
path to direct the district to financial irresponsibility. He is in effect saying, I’m
going to lose my job, so I might as well take the whole community with me. He should be
fired immediately, and the board should be taken to task for allowing this ‘leader’ to
create a schism in the community.â€
I applaud your work on this since the only way we will get our schools back from being held hostage by a system of organized crime is by spreading the truth, precisely what our organization, NAPTA is attempting to do. NAPTA, or National Association for the Prevention of Teacher Abuse, may, on first appearance, seem to have a different objective, but the essence of our group is to teach the public that the way this organized crime thrives is by using propaganda to fool the public. A big piece of that propaganda is alleging that the teachers are to blame when the teachers are being set up to get the parents mad – divide and conquer. Teachers either go along with what they are told or are marginalized and disposed of so that they won’t have a voice. It is a very clever game, similar to the game described above. I noted that this superintendent blamed the Teachers Unions. That is another ploy. They are in cahoots with those in power since they know either they go along to get along, or the unions are out. Thus good teachers, such as those who join our group, are sabotaged so that the superintendents are happy and the unions can co-exist. And the Illinois State Board is right in there with them. In my personal legal case pertaining to my having been terminated over speaking out about harm being done to children, I have evidence that both the district, Avoca in Wilmette, as well as the Illinois State Board altered documents so they could dispose of me as I became a big concern, not being afraid to speak out about the corruption. Obstruction of justice and tampering with public documents is par for the course with teacher dismissals all over this country. My case is still ongoing and one day is going to explode upon the scene since as it goes up through the courts; they cannot count on GOOD OLE BOY JUDGES not applying the law as it rises through the courts. Apparently their arrogance evolves from knowing that the lower courts are on their team, and most teachers cannot afford to get beyond them. This teacher figured out a way since I could not leave the profession knowing that our society is falling apart due to the greed of those in power who have what has been a perfect crime in place.
Our group is trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together for all citizens and we welcome parents or citizens since everyone is harmed by our bogus schools. Please go to our site endteacherabuse.org and check out the Roslyn Saga under HOT TOPICS at the bottom of HOME page. It will enlighten you as to what goes on behind the scenes. Just recently the accountant for Roslyn admitted guilt in helping the district hide their embezzlement. That is yet to be posted. The only reason they got away with what they did is that the public is clueless about the game of corruption going on in our schools. What you have at this site is an eye opener, but only a beginning. Read through POLITICS at our site and learn more. Once people get it, we can stop it, but this means we must focus our energy against those in power and not against each other. Parents and teachers need to come together since our manipulated separation is what holds this corruption together. I am always happy to receive emails at teacherkh@aol.com since like the people above I do this work with no financing and only a passion for the children – the reason I became a teacher.
