The Illinois Policy Institute has just finished a study of those now infamous bills, HB750, HB755, SB1484. (Hat tip: Extreme Wisdom) If you were still trying to decide if these were good for Illinois and for schools, you really need to read this. It is devastating to the arguments that this was good way to fund schools.
We need to seriously consider funding the students and not the districts. This will help those fast growing districts tremendously. Think about the addtional revenue your district would recieve if this were enacted.
Of course, there is the opposite effect of redusing the money to districts that are shrinking. But, look at it this way, each child not matter where they live in Illinois would have the exact same money coming from the state.
Funding the student would certainly hep the inequity in funding many districts talk about now.
