HB755 Call To Action
Ralf Seiffe has a must read article in the Illinois Leader about HB755. (Hat Tip: Extreme Wisdom)
There is a large group of people heading to Springfield tomorrow to lobby for this bill. See below for this information. As Bruno instructed, fax this letter to your Senator/Representative tomorrow, May 18th. Get 7 other people to do the same.
Th information below was sent to me by the D46 Information Committee who says their goal is:
| to get accurate, unbiased and timely information out to the public so that people can make informed decisions. |
At least they got the timely part correct. The information they send out is always biased. It only supports referendums and tax increases and anything else they want to support. There is no other side of the debate with them.
And now for your reading displeasure:

Turn your calendar to WEDNESDAY MAY 18, 2005 and mark a 6:00 AM boarding time from Grayslake heading to Springfield joining with thousands from around the state in A DAY FOR ILLINOIS CHILDREN.
GET ON THE BUS! ADD YOUR VOICE! Email us to reserve your seat! $20 takes care of your seat-we will provide information packets. We need to hear from you ASAP-seats are first come first served. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ MAY 12, 2005- Springfield rally for schools Wednesday Sheryl De Vore Grayslake Review Wearing yellow T-shirts to represent the color of a school bus, The Better Funding for Better Schools Coalition will gather in Springfield May 18 for a Rally For School Funding (A Day for Illinois Children). “We expect 1,000 to 9,000 people in Springfield,” said Ursula Ahern, chair of the coalition’s Lake County chapter. “We are also going to send in yellow cards to the four House and Senate leaders to say we expect them to step up and address the school funding issue now and not wait another three decades,” said Ahern of Grayslake. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 05/12/05 — Residents lobby for school reform Standing before 40 residents, parents and school administrators, Tom Lenz asked if they were frustrated enough over failed tax referendums to go directly to their local legislators and plead for statewide education funding reform. “Let’s get five vans now,” responded Noel Calhoun. Calhoun, a Gurnee resident, attended the May 4 meeting at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Gurnee. Lenz belongs to the lobby group called Lake County United, which is working for school funding reform as well as other local issues. In the next three weeks, residents and members of Lake County United plan to meet, appeal in hand, with politicians, including Sen. Adeline Geo-Karis, R-31st, of Zion, Rep. Robert Churchill, R-62nd, of Lake Villa, and Rep. JoAnn Osmond, R-31st of Antioch. “What this will lead to, I don’t know,” said Ben Martindale, superintendent of Gurnee Grade School District 56. But, he said he knows one thing for sure: “The revenue issue at the state level needs to have extensive reform.” |
Just remember, the people going tomorrow for the most part are being paid by you and I. They are taking a paid day off to go ask the State to raise our taxes so they can have more money.
Call you friends and neighbors. Let’s stop this massive tax increase.
