For the dads out there who want to be involved with their kids here is progam a friend of mine told me about. It’s called All Pro Dads. It was started by Tony Dungee, Coach of the Indianapolis Colts. You can sign up for email updates and information on how to start a group here locally. It’s a great way to spend time with your kids and help them learn in the process. Here is the latest email I received:

Absent Dads and Dumber Schools

One of the most interesting school names in all of America is Dummer Academy in Massachusetts. Named after Gov. William Dummer in 1763, the school board is now reconsidering changing its name – for obvious reasons. But do you realize that if you and other fathers are not involved in your children’s school, you will be making that school dumber? Believe it or not, there is a direct correlation between children’s achievement, both inside and outside the classroom, and how much dads make a trip to campus. So why not combine that trip with some great time with your kids and a fabulous breakfast? Find out more about our All Pro Dad’s Days by sending away for our DVD. There is no cost for our resources. View the DVD and then show it to your children’s principal and PTA members. It’s a very easy event and will make a world of difference to your children and to their school. kudos! the first constructive thing i’ve seen you post here! lennie, there may be hope for you yet. thanks for the story!

  2. Lennie says:

Not very impressed with you so far Carl since you put up that person flipping the bird and saying it was Shawn or myself. That was rude and inappropriate.

  3. carl baker says:

man…that was short lived…just couldn’t keep up some good work?

  4. Lennie says:

BTW, I have many constructive ideas if they would not be dismissed out of hand because I now homeschool.

  5. carl baker says:

if they are constructive, i don’t think it matters, does it?

    Main Entry: constructive
    Part of Speech: adjective
    Definition: helpful
Synonyms: effective, implicit, positive, practical, productive, useful, valuable, virtual

    verses……………..

    Main Entry: destructive
    Part of Speech: adjective 2
    Definition: hurtful
Synonyms: abrasive, adverse, antagonistic, cankerous, caustic, contrary, corrosive, deleterious, derogatory, detrimental, discouraging, discrediting, disparaging, erosive, hostile, injurious, invalidating, negative, offensive, opposed, troublesome, undermining, vicious

  7. carl baker says:

see the difference between “all pro dads” verses “suggestion for yes voters” ?
when you take a destructive approach, you incite people to make those comments you’ve quoted. when you post a story like all pro dads, you give yourself credibility. keep up the GOOD work, lennie; its GOOD for all of us.

  8. Lennie says:

So let me see if I understand you. If I only post things you think are good, or that agree with your point of view, that is constructive. However, if I post anything that you don’t agree with or that asks simple questions that deviate from how you would ask them, then I am being destructive. Is that correct?

Would a look at the Federal mandates for inclusion be legal, feasible and practical? Mainstreaming has put a tremendous strain on a teachers ability to control a resonable class size and I question whether the special needs child is really having his or her special need met.
    verses…..
Abolish Special Education Mainstreaming. It is a foul experiment devoid of reason and rationality. (The extent to which it assists the “special ed. kid”

  11. Joe says:

Got all that Lennie? Carl is appalled, that would be:
shocked, aghast, amazed, freaked out, stunned, dismayed,
    horrified, peeved, dumbfounded, thunderstruck, confounded

What’s wrong Carl? Forget your thesaurus today?

as i said in another comment, only other lunatics will be swayed by your DESTRUCTIVE assaults…dogs and fleas, lennie.

  13. I have not assaulted anyone. Check my statements. As you will tell, I have refrained from calling names. I have been diligent about sticking to facts and giving my opinions.
